The Falcon requires a substantial base. At 13ft wide, a concrete slab is the only practical option. Paving slabs at this width tend to settle unevenly over time. Budget £800-£1,200 for professional concrete preparation. The base must extend 50mm beyond the greenhouse footprint on all sides for the PVC damp barrier strip. Access to your garden must accommodate delivery vehicles carrying 4-metre timber sections.
How wide is the Swallow Falcon Greenhouse?
The Falcon measures 13ft (3990mm) wide externally. This makes it the largest standard model Swallow manufactures. The internal width provides space for staging on both sides with a generous central walkway wide enough for a wheelbarrow.
What door options does the Falcon offer?
The Falcon offers centre, side, and double-door access. The standard configuration includes secure double doors at one end. You can add a side door for cross-access without walking the full length. This triple-access design is unique to the Falcon in the Swallow range.
Does the Swallow Falcon need wood treatment?
No chemical wood treatment is required. ThermoWood is heat-treated at 215°C to remove moisture and resin, creating naturally rot-resistant timber. The oiled finish comes as standard and enhances the appearance without being essential for protection. A 12-year manufacturer warranty covers all timber.
What is included with a Swallow Falcon Greenhouse?
Every Falcon includes toughened glass, staging, auto vents, and free installation. You get 3mm toughened safety glass, full-length slatted staging, and automatic Bayliss roof vent openers. Secure double doors with mortise lock, stainless steel handles, and a 20mm PVC damp barrier are also included.
How long does Falcon delivery and installation take?
Allow 8-12 weeks from order to installation. The Falcon is built to order in Swallow's Rotherham workshop. Installation takes a full day with a two-person team. You pay just 20% deposit when ordering. The balance is due after the greenhouse is standing in your garden.
