About our elite thyme dwarf wall 8ft wide greenhouses

The Elite Thyme 8ft wide dwarf wall greenhouse brings Victorian elegance to your garden with practical modern engineering. Built to sit on a 762mm (three-course brick) wall, this aluminium greenhouse combines traditional styling with low-maintenance durability. You'll get 3mm toughened safety glass as standard, 12-inch wide heritage panes, and ornate ridge crestings that create an authentic period look.

Why We Chose This Range

“We stock the Elite Thyme 8ft Dwarf Wall as our flagship Victorian model for one specific reason: structural density. When you build a greenhouse 8ft wide, wind load becomes a major factor. By using 12-inch glazing centres, Elite has effectively doubled the frame's rigidity compared to standard 24-inch models. We chose this range for serious collectors and estate managers who want the authentic 'glass-to-brick' look without the rot issues of timber. It is the stiffest aluminium frame in its class, period.”

, Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores

Every model features an 8ft 4-inch width and a 7ft 11-inch ridge height, giving you excellent headroom and growing space. The low-threshold sliding door means no awkward step to trip over when you're carrying trays or equipment. Standard features include two louvre vents for base-level ventilation, one roof vent minimum (more on longer models), and a full-width rear shelf for plant displays.

Matt's installation tip: the 12-inch brickwork challenge

The Thyme 8ft is an unforgiving structure when it comes to foundations. Because there is a glazing bar every 12 inches, your brick wall must be level to within 3mm across the entire 8ft span. If the wall is slightly 'waved', the vertical bars will not fit with the glass panels, making the bar-capping almost impossible to snap into place.

I strongly advise using a Class B Engineering Brick for the top course. Its high density provides a better anchor for the frame than standard facing bricks. Also, check your diagonals twice; at 8ft wide, if the wall is out of square by more than 5mm, the double doors will never glide smoothly. Read our full Victorian base guide here.

Victorian design elements:

  • 12-inch wide heritage glazing panes create authentic period character
  • Decorative ridge crestings and finials add traditional elegance
  • Low-threshold entrance with no trip hazard for easy access

Solid construction:

  • 3mm toughened safety glass as standard
  • Powder-coated aluminium frame in 10 colour choices
  • Built-in guttering system captures rainwater efficiently
  • 20-year manufacturer's warranty included as standard

Choosing your elite thyme dwarf wall 8ft wide greenhouse

The Elite Thyme collection offers eight different lengths from 6ft to 20ft. The Elite Thyme 8x8 Dwarf Wall suits most medium gardens, while 8x10 or 8x12 models provide space for staging and dedicated potting areas. Standard 3mm toughened glass offers superior clarity and heat retention, essential for winter growing.

You'll need a builder to construct the 762mm high wall before delivery. Once you order, we'll provide a detailed wall plan. You might also consider our Elite Thyme Victorian 6ft Wide Dwarf Wall collection if space is tighter.
