About Our Cheap Greenhouses
We stock 51 budget greenhouses in this range, every one in stock today. Prices start at £229 for a compact lean-to and climb to around £600 for an 8x6 walk-in. Buying cheap does not mean buying badly. The frames here are still aluminium, the glazing is still toughened glass or twin-wall polycarbonate, and most carry a manufacturer guarantee. If your budget is tight, also look at our mini greenhouses and the popular 6x4 greenhouses for the best value per square foot.
Two brands dominate this list: Palram Canopia and Vitavia. Palram uses shatterproof polycarbonate panels, which suit windy or exposed gardens and homes with children. Vitavia uses traditional horticultural or toughened glass, which lets in more light for serious growing. Access makes the small lean-to models that wall-mount onto a fence or house. We have fitted all three many times. Browse our wider small greenhouses selection if you want a few more options at this size.
Why We Chose This Range
"People assume a cheap greenhouse rocks in the wind or leaks at the seams. The honest answer is that the frame profile matters more than the price tag. On a Vitavia Venus we fitted last autumn in an exposed Yorkshire garden, the slimmer integrated guttering and the diagonal corner braces held firm through a 50mph gust that flattened the owner's old timber shed. So we only list budget frames we have actually bolted together and trust."
— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores💡 Tip: Spend the money you save on a proper base. A cheap greenhouse on a wobbly base is a false economy. A level paving slab or a steel base anchor keeps the frame square and the door sliding freely for years.
🔧 Matt's Installation Tip: Glaze on a still day
Horticultural glass on the budget Vitavia models sits in the frame loose, held by W-shaped clips rather than rubber seals. Fit the clips firmly and glaze when there is no wind. A gust catching a loose pane mid-build is the single most common cause of a cracked panel before the greenhouse is even finished. Work front to back and seat each clip fully.
Matt's Pick: Palram Canopia Mythos 6x4 Polycarbonate Greenhouse
Best For: A first walk-in greenhouse on the smallest sensible budget.
Why I Recommend It: It is the cheapest full-height walk-in we sell, and the twin-wall polycarbonate shrugs off knocks that would crack glass. The slide-and-lock panel system means no fiddly clips during the build.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the cheapest greenhouse you sell?
The Palram lean-to is our cheapest, at around £229. It bolts onto a wall or fence and suits patios where floor space is tight. A full freestanding walk-in starts a little higher.
-
Are cheap greenhouses any good?
Yes, when the frame and glazing are sound. Every model here uses an aluminium frame with toughened glass or polycarbonate. We only list budget greenhouses we have built and stand behind.
-
Should I choose glass or polycarbonate on a budget?
Polycarbonate is the safer budget choice. It will not shatter, holds heat better, and copes with wind. Glass lets in more light and stays clearer over time, so keen growers often prefer it.
-
What size greenhouse should I buy first?
A 6x4 suits most first-time buyers. It holds staging down one side with room to stand and pot up. If you grow tomatoes and bedding together, step up to a 6x6.
-
Do I need a base for a cheap greenhouse?
Yes, a firm level base is essential. Use paving slabs or the matching steel base anchor. A solid base keeps the frame square, stops doors sticking, and protects your guarantee.
