Why We Chose This Range
“We stock the Natura for one specific customer: The gardener who loves the look of wood but worries about glass safety. Traditional wooden greenhouses use glass, which can be dangerous for children and pets. Palram has combined a solid Cedar frame with their legendary Polycarbonate panels. This gives you the aesthetic warmth of timber with glazing that is 200 times stronger than glass and blocks 100% of harmful UV rays.”
— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores🔧 Matt's Installation Tip: Treating the Cedar
Cedar is naturally resistant to rot, but like all timber, it reacts to the sun. If left untreated, this greenhouse will weather to a distinguished silver-grey colour over 12-18 months.
If you want to maintain the rich reddish-brown 'showroom' look, you must apply a high-quality UV-protection oil (like Osmo or a clear deck oil) immediately after assembly. Also, ensure the base is perfectly square; polycarbonate panels have very tight tolerances and won't slot in if the Cedar frame is twisted.”
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Does the Cedar wood require treatment?
Technically, no. Cedar is naturally resistant to rot and pests due to its natural oils. However, if left untreated, the wood will naturally fade to a silver-grey patina over time. To maintain the red-brown colour, we recommend applying a UV-protection oil annually.
-
Is the glazing clear or opaque?
The Natura uses crystal-clear polycarbonate side panels that provide over 90% light transmission, similar to glass. The roof panels may have a slight diffusion to prevent leaf burn, but the overall effect is a clear, bright growing environment.
-
Will the polycarbonate panels blow out in the wind?
No. The Natura is tested to withstand winds up to 62mph. Unlike clip-glazed greenhouses, the panels slide into the Cedar frame channels, locking them securely in place against the wind.
-
How does the automatic vent opener work?
The included auto-vent uses a wax cylinder that expands when warm, pushing the window open, and contracts when cool, closing it. It requires no electricity or batteries, ensuring your plants don't overheat even if you aren't home.
