About Our Swallow Eagle Victorian Greenhouses
The Swallow Eagle is a Victorian-style wooden greenhouse that combines period aesthetics with rot-free ThermoWood® construction. Its steep 45-degree roof pitch, ornate aluminium cresting, and narrow 15-inch glass panes create an authentic period look. Built in Rotherham from Scandinavian timber heat-treated at 215°C, it resists the glazing bar rot that destroys traditional Victorian structures.
Available in 6 sizes from the Swallow Eagle 8x6 at £5,534 to the Swallow Eagle 8x20 at £11,218. The popular Swallow Eagle 8x10 at £7,963 suits most gardens. Browse our full Swallow Greenhouses range or explore all Wooden Greenhouses.
Why We Chose This Range
"We chose the Eagle because it solves the biggest problem with Victorian greenhouses: glazing bar rot. Traditional Victorian designs rely on many narrow wooden bars to hold the glass. Historically, these trap water and rot within years. Swallow uses ThermoWood cooked at 215°C which does not absorb water. Those narrow panes will not compromise the structure. You get the classic Victorian look without needing to repaint it every spring."

Matt's Installation Tip: The "8ft 3in" Trap
The Eagle has a specific width of 2530mm (8ft 3in). A common mistake is laying a standard 8ft (2440mm) wide patio base, which leaves the greenhouse overhanging. The PVC damp barrier strip must sit fully on your concrete or slabs. If it overhangs, pests can enter and the warranty is void. Ensure your base is at least 2600mm wide to give a safe margin.
How much does a Swallow Eagle Victorian Greenhouse cost?
Prices start from £5,534 for the 8x6 model. The popular 8x10 costs £7,963. Larger models like the 8x16 cost £10,599. All prices include free UK mainland delivery, professional installation, and a 12-year warranty. You pay just 20% deposit when ordering.
What makes the Eagle Victorian style?
The Eagle features a steep 45-degree roof pitch and narrow 15-inch glass panes. Ornate aluminium cresting along the ridge creates the silhouette of traditional cast iron without the risk of rust. Combined with black wrought-iron-style door handles and window latches, the Eagle captures authentic period aesthetics in a modern, rot-free structure.
Does the Victorian cresting rust?
No, the cresting is made from high-grade aluminium, not iron. It looks like cast iron but will never rust or leave stains on the timber frame. The black powder-coated finish is maintenance-free.
Does the Swallow Eagle need wood treatment?
No chemical treatment is required. ThermoWood is heat-treated at 215°C, which removes moisture and resin from the timber cells. This makes it naturally resistant to the glazing bar rot that destroys traditional Victorian greenhouses. The oiled finish comes as standard. A 12-year warranty covers all timber.
How long does Eagle delivery and installation take?
Allow 8-12 weeks from order to installation. The Eagle is built to order in Rotherham. Professional installation takes a full day. You provide a prepared concrete or slab base. The factory team handles all assembly, glazing, and fitting of the ornate cresting.
