The Vitavia Venus is widely considered the gold standard for entry-level greenhouses. Unlike cheaper "mill finish" alternatives, the silver Venus features an anodised aluminium frame to prevent oxidation, while the powder-coated Green and Black options provide a durable, maintenance-free finish. Crucially, even the smallest models in this range include roof bracing as standard—a structural necessity for UK wind conditions that many budget manufacturers skip to cut costs.
One of the smartest features of the Venus is the reversible single door. Unlike many rigid designs, you can assemble the door to slide open to the left or the right depending on your garden layout.
Crucial Step: Make this decision before you bolt the front gable end together. Once the frame is up, changing the door direction involves dismantling the front of the greenhouse!
Why We Chose This Range
“We stock the Venus because it is the only 'entry-level' greenhouse that doesn't behave like one. We see countless budget greenhouses collapse in winter because they lack rigidity. Vitavia solves this by including proper diagonal roof braces in every Venus box. It allows you to get started with growing on a budget, without worrying that your investment will be flat on the lawn after the first storm.”
— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse StoresWhat is the difference between Anodised and Standard Aluminium?
Standard "mill finish" aluminium (used on cheap greenhouses) will oxidize and turn a dull, rough grey over time. The Vitavia Venus is Anodised (on silver models), meaning the aluminium has been treated to seal the surface. It stays smooth and shiny silver for life, preventing that "old greenhouse" look.
Is the Vitavia Venus suitable for windy gardens?
Yes, providing it is installed correctly. Unlike many 6ft models, the Venus includes diagonal roof braces as standard to prevent the frame from twisting. For exposed areas, we highly recommend adding the optional Steel Base and concreting the corner posts into the ground.
Can I install the door on either side?
Yes. The single sliding door is fully reversible and can be positioned to slide open to the left or right, giving you flexibility if your greenhouse is near a fence or wall.
What glazing is best for a family garden?
If you have children or pets, we always recommend Toughened Safety Glass. It is 5-7 times stronger than standard horticultural glass and, if it does break, it crumbles into safe pebbles rather than dangerous shards.
