About Our 4ft Wide Sheds
We stock four narrow sheds from Palram in the Skylight and Voyager ranges, priced from £325 to £479. The 4ft (1.2m) width makes these the narrowest sheds in our range. They fit into side passages, narrow patios, and small gardens where a 6ft or 8ft shed would not go. Every model is maintenance-free plastic with UV protection.
The Palram Skylight range includes a translucent roof section that floods the interior with natural light. The Voyager range uses a taller profile for vertical storage of items like fishing rods, garden forks, and broom handles. Both ranges use snap-together assembly that a single person can complete in under 2 hours without specialist tools.
If you have room for a wider shed, our 6ft Wide Plastic Sheds give significantly more floor space for a modest increase in footprint. For enclosed bike storage, see our Bike Storage range. Browse all Plastic Sheds to compare sizes across the full collection.
Why We Chose This Range
"Not everyone has room for a full-size shed, but everyone needs somewhere to store garden tools and bikes. These 4ft models solve a real problem. I have fitted them in side passages as narrow as 1.3 metres with clearance to spare. The Skylight range is my favourite. The roof panel means you can see what you are rummaging for without a torch."

Matt's Tip
Before ordering, measure the width of your narrowest access point. The assembled panels are just over 4ft wide. You also need 6 inches of clearance on each side for assembly and airflow. A 5ft wide passage is the minimum practical space for a 4ft shed with comfortable access to the door.
Frequently Asked Questions
What can I store in a 4ft wide shed?
Garden tools, bikes, mowers, and seasonal items all fit in a 4ft shed. A push mower fits through the door with room to spare. Hang long-handled tools on wall hooks to maximise floor space. A 4x6ft model stores a bike, a mower, and a shelf of hand tools comfortably. These sheds are not workshops, but they handle essential garden storage well.
Can one person assemble a 4ft plastic shed?
Yes, one adult can build a Palram 4ft shed in under 2 hours. The panels snap together without screws for the wall assembly. You need a Phillips screwdriver for the door hardware and a step ladder for the roof panels. The small panel sizes mean you do not need someone to hold anything in place.
Do 4ft sheds need a solid base?
Yes, a level base is essential even for small sheds. Paving slabs on compacted sand or hardcore are the easiest option. The base should be flat to within 5mm. At 4ft wide, a few standard paving slabs cover the entire footprint. Anchor the shed to the base with the included fixings to prevent wind movement.
Are 4ft sheds secure enough for tool storage?
Palram sheds include a built-in pad-lockable handle for basic security. The snap-together panels cannot be pulled apart from outside once assembled. For higher-value items, add a hasp and padlock to the door. These sheds are comparable in security to wooden sheds with a basic lock. For maximum security, consider a metal shed from our Apex Roof Sheds range.
Will a 4ft shed fit in a side passage between houses?
Yes, 4ft sheds are specifically designed for narrow side access. You need a passage width of at least 5ft (1.5m) to allow 6 inches clearance on each side. Most terraced and semi-detached houses have side passages of 5-6ft. Measure before ordering and allow extra length for the shed depth plus door-opening swing space.
