Why 10mm Polycarbonate Outperforms Glass 🏆

The Glory's 10mm twin-wall construction creates an insulating air pocket that keeps temperatures 5°C warmer in winter compared to single-glazed alternatives. This means earlier planting in spring and extended harvests into autumn—without supplementary heating costs.

Light diffusion is another advantage. Unlike glass, polycarbonate scatters sunlight evenly, eliminating scorching hotspots while ensuring all plants receive consistent illumination. The panels also filter 99.9% of harmful UV rays, protecting both you and your plants.

Prices start from £1,090 for the Glory 6x8, rising to £2,550 for the Glory 8x20. For growers prioritising thermal efficiency and durability over traditional aesthetics, the Glory delivers exceptional value.

Frequently Asked Questions about Palram Canopia Glory Greenhouses

  • What is the difference between Palram Harmony, Mythos, and Glory greenhouses?

The Glory sits at the top of Palram's range with 10mm twin-wall polycarbonate—the Harmony and Mythos use 4mm panels. This means the Glory offers approximately 30% better heat retention, stronger wind resistance (62mph vs 45mph), and a thicker reinforced frame. Choose the Glory for year-round growing or exposed sites.

  • How thick are the polycarbonate panels on the Palram Canopia Glory?

All Glory models feature 10mm twin-wall polycarbonate glazing throughout. This double-layer construction creates an insulating air gap that significantly improves thermal efficiency compared to standard 4mm panels found on entry-level models. The thicker panels also provide greater impact resistance.

  • Does the Palram Glory greenhouse require a concrete base?

Yes, a solid level base is essential. Palram recommends either a concrete slab or paved area that's perfectly level. The Glory's anchor kit (included) bolts directly to hardstanding. Timber bases are not recommended due to the structure's weight. See our greenhouse base guide for detailed preparation advice.

  • Is the Palram Glory greenhouse wind and snow resistant?

Absolutely. The Glory is tested to withstand winds up to 62mph (100km/h) and snow loads of 100kg/m². Reinforced aluminium frame struts and the substantial 10mm glazing contribute to this strength. For exposed coastal or hillside gardens, the Glory is one of the most robust polycarbonate options available.

  • How long does it take to assemble a Palram Glory greenhouse?

Plan for 8-12 hours for two people on the smaller 6x8 and 8x8 models. Larger sizes (8x12 to 8x20) typically require 12-20 hours. We recommend spreading assembly over a weekend. Pro tip: apply silicone lubricant to panel channels for smoother sliding. Alternatively, enquire about our professional installation service.

  • Which accessories are compatible with the Palram Canopia Glory?

All standard Palram accessories fit the Glory range, including automatic roof vents, side louvre windows, shelving kits, and shade covers. The reinforced frame accommodates heavier staging and hanging baskets. Browse compatible items in our Greenhouse Accessories collection.
