About Our Swallow Cygnet Painted Greenhouses
The Swallow Cygnet Painted Greenhouse is a T-shaped timber orangery with a factory-sprayed painted finish included as standard. Built in Rotherham by skilled carpenters, the Cygnet features a 6ft 8 inch wide gable section. An apex-roofed porch completes the T-shape. The painted finish adds visual appeal and an extra layer of weather protection to the already rot-resistant ThermoWood frame.
Every Cygnet Painted model is constructed from Scandinavian ThermoWood heat-treated at 215C. Standard features include 3mm toughened safety glass, automatic roof vents, full-length slatted staging, and a mortise lock door. Prices range from £9,137 to £10,969, with free professional installation included. Browse our full Swallow Greenhouses range or see the unpainted Swallow Cygnet Greenhouse collection. For a wider painted T-shape, see our Swallow Mallard Painted Greenhouse range.
"The painted Cygnet is a proper garden centrepiece. The T-shape already looks like a Victorian orangery. Add a coat of Lily White or Purbeck Stone and it becomes something special. We have fitted painted Cygnets in gardens where they match the house windows. The result is a proper showpiece. The porch section with its apex roof sets this model apart from a standard rectangle."

Matt's Installation Tip
The Cygnet's apex-roofed porch is the trickiest part of the T-shape to get right during base preparation. The porch roof joins the main ridge at a right angle. The base must be perfectly square at that junction. For paving slab bases, use one unbroken slab at the porch-to-main junction. This prevents any movement that could stress the glazing where the two rooflines meet.
What is the difference between the Cygnet Painted and the oiled Cygnet?
The painted version includes a factory-sprayed colour finish as standard. The oiled Swallow Cygnet arrives with a natural ThermoWood oil that will silver over time. The painted Cygnet maintains its chosen colour for 5-8 years before needing a refresh. Both versions share the same ThermoWood construction, features, and 12-year warranty.
What paint colours are available for the Cygnet Painted?
Ten standard factory-sprayed colours are available. Options include Lily White, Lulworth Blue, Vert De Terre, and Bracken. Also available are Olive, Railings, Anthracite, Mole's Breath, Purbeck Stone, and Oxford Stone. Custom colour matches are available for a surcharge. The paint is applied at Swallow's Rotherham workshop for a consistent, professional finish.
What does the T-shaped design mean for growing space?
The T-shape creates two distinct zones within a single structure. The main growing wings extend either side of the central porch, giving you separate areas for different crops. The apex-roofed porch provides a dedicated potting zone with its own staging. This layout dates back to Victorian orangeries and maximises growing area while keeping your working space organised.
What base do I need for a Cygnet Painted Greenhouse?
A flat, level concrete or paving slab base is required. The T-shaped footprint needs precise dimensions matching the supplied base plan. Our guides on concrete bases and paving slab bases cover the full process. Concrete is recommended for T-shaped models.
Is installation included with the Cygnet Painted?
Yes, free professional installation is included in every price. Our team delivers and erects the complete structure on your prepared base. You pay 20% deposit when ordering, with the balance due only after installation. The full process from order to completion is 8-12 weeks.
