Why We Chose This Range
“We exclusively stock Palram Canopia door canopies because they solved the biggest issue with DIY kits: the wall seal. Cheap canopies often leak at the rear, causing green algae streaks down your front door. Palram uses an integrated back gasket and hidden rubber seal that directs 100% of rainwater into the front gutter. This keeps your wall bone-dry even in driving horizontal rain.”
— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores🔧 Matt's Installation Tip: The "Substrate" Check
If you have cladding, pebble dash, or uneven stone, you cannot simply bolt the canopy to the surface. It will crack the panel or leave gaps.
For uneven walls, you must use a Clear Silicone Sealant (neutral-cure low modulus type) along the top edge after installation. If mounting onto cladding, ensure you are fixing into the structural timber studs behind the plastic, not just the cladding itself, to handle wind uplift.”
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Do I need planning permission for a door canopy?
Most door canopies fall under permitted development rights. However, they must not project more than 150mm beyond your boundary. Listed buildings and conservation areas have stricter rules—always check with your local authority first.
-
Will the canopy hold the weight of snow?
Yes. Our Sophia and Nancy models are rated for snow loads up to 150kg/m². The high-impact polycarbonate is designed to flex without cracking, ensuring safety in harsh winter conditions.
