Elite High Eave Greenhouse

The Elite High Eave solves the two biggest complaints gardeners have with standard 6ft greenhouses: lack of headroom and limited shelf space. By raising the eaves to a generous 5ft 2", Elite has created a structure where you can stand right up to the glass without stooping. This extra height allows for a 6ft 2" high entry door (no ducking required) and, crucially, provides enough vertical wall space to fit a high-level shelf above your staging—effectively doubling your storage capacity. Manufactured in Bolton, UK, it features the same low-threshold access as the Craftsman but with superior air volume for better plant health.

About Our Elite High Eave Greenhouses

The Elite High Eave is a 6ft wide greenhouse with eaves raised to 5ft 2in (1585mm) — that is 28cm taller than the standard Elite Craftsman. Built in Bolton, Lancashire, it uses the same high-tensile aluminium frame as the Craftsman but with longer side glass panes that create significantly more internal volume. We stock sizes from the compact 6x4 up to the expansive 6x18, each available in horticultural, toughened, or polycarbonate glazing.

The taller walls allow you to grow indeterminate tomato varieties right against the side glass, not just in the centre. They also create space for high-level shelving above your staging — storage that simply is not possible in standard-eave models. If you need this extra headroom in an 8ft width, see the Elite Zenith.

Why We Chose This Range

"We stock the Elite High Eave because it offers the best growing volume per square foot of any 6ft greenhouse. Standard greenhouses feel cramped once full of tomato plants. The High Eave feels like a cathedral inside. When we fit these, customers always comment on how much bigger it feels than they expected from a 6ft frame. The extra 28cm of eaves height creates a larger air buffer that regulates temperature better in summer, preventing the sharp heat spikes that scorch plants in shorter models."

Choosing Your Elite High Eave Greenhouse

Horticultural Glass Models

Traditional 3mm glass offering excellent light transmission at the lowest price point. Ideal for sheltered gardens where hail damage is unlikely. Available in all sizes from 6x4 to 6x18. Prices start from £629 for the 6x4.

Toughened Glass Models

4mm safety glass that is five times stronger than horticultural. Shatters into small cubes rather than sharp shards. We recommend toughened for families with children, exposed gardens, or anyone wanting peace of mind. Our best-seller in this range.

6mm Polycarbonate Models

Twin-wall polycarbonate provides 40% better insulation than single-pane glass. Virtually unbreakable. Ideal if you plan to heat your greenhouse through winter or live in an area prone to vandalism. Slightly reduced light clarity compared to glass.

Starter Kit Packages

Our High Eave packages bundle the greenhouse with automatic roof vents, staging, shelving, and downpipes. Available on 6x10 and 6x12 sizes. Saves 15-20% compared to buying accessories separately.

Elite High Eave Size & Price Guide

Size Floor Area Toughened From Best For
6x4 24 sq ft £629 (hort) Small patios, seed starting
6x10 60 sq ft £1,099 Serious hobbyists — Matt's Pick
6x12 72 sq ft £1,259 Year-round growing, mixed crops
6x14 84 sq ft £1,449 Dedicated propagation and growing zones
6x18 108 sq ft £1,799 Semi-professional production

💡 Quick Guide: The 6x10 is our most popular High Eave size. It fits two full-length staging benches with a comfortable aisle, and the high eaves allow a shelf above each bench. If your garden can take the length, the 6x12 gives you a dedicated propagation zone at one end.

🔧 Matt's Installation Tip: Wind Exposure

The High Eave has taller side walls than the Craftsman, creating a larger sail area for wind to catch. When we fit these in exposed gardens, we always recommend upgrading to Bar Capping rather than standard wire clips.

Bar Capping runs a continuous rubber strip along every glazing bar, locking the longer glass panes firmly into the frame. It prevents rattling and stops panes popping out during winter storms. This is especially important on the High Eave because the side panes are taller and heavier than standard. Read our full base preparation guide here.

The Elite High Eave range starts from £629 for the 6x4 horticultural model. Toughened glass models start from £1,099 for the 6x10. All models include an integral aluminium base with low threshold entry, built-in guttering, and a 10-year framework warranty. Free UK delivery is included, and our professional installation service is available nationwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much taller is the High Eave than a standard Craftsman?

The High Eave eaves are 28cm (11in) taller than the Craftsman. Eaves height is 5ft 2in (1585mm) compared to 4ft 3in on the standard model. The door opening is a spacious 6ft 2in high, and the ridge reaches 7ft 9in. This extra height creates significantly more usable growing space near the side walls.

  • Does the Elite High Eave have a low threshold base?

Yes, it includes the integral low threshold base as standard. Despite the extra height, it retains the same trip-free, easy-access entry as the Craftsman. The base is built into the frame, not a separate steel plinth, so you get a clean finish with no tripping hazard at the door.

  • Why do I need high eaves on a greenhouse?

High eaves let you grow tall crops right against the side walls. In standard greenhouses, the low eaves force tall plants like indeterminate tomatoes into the centre only. The High Eave allows you to use the full floor area for tall varieties. It also creates space for high-level shelving above your staging, doubling your storage capacity.

  • Can I fit automatic vents to the Elite High Eave?

Yes, automatic vent openers fit all High Eave roof vents. We recommend auto-vents on every greenhouse, but they are especially useful in the High Eave. Hot air accumulates at the top of the taller ridge, and auto-vents release this heat before it reaches damaging temperatures. Each model comes with roof vents as standard.

  • Is the Elite High Eave suitable for windy gardens?

Yes, with Bar Capping it handles exposed UK conditions well. The taller walls create a larger wind profile than standard 6ft greenhouses. We always recommend Bar Capping for the High Eave in exposed areas. For extremely windy or coastal sites, consider the heavy-duty Elite Titan 800 which uses a thicker box-section frame.

  • What is the warranty on Elite High Eave greenhouses?

All Elite High Eave models carry a 10-year framework warranty. This covers the aluminium frame against manufacturing defects and corrosion. The frame is powder-coated to the colour of your choice from the Elite range. Browse the full Elite Greenhouse range to compare other models.
