About Our Greenhouse Shading and Clips
We stock 11 shading and fixing products from three brands: Elite, Vitavia and Palram Canopia. Prices start at £14 for a pack of Elite Lining Hooks. The top of the range is a full Elite shade netting kit with 30 clips included. Every item is in stock and ships free to UK mainland addresses. We fit greenhouses every week, so these are the fixings and fabrics we reach for on site.
The range does three jobs. Shade netting and curtains cut solar gain and stop leaf scorch in the hottest months. Clips, hooks and spacers hold that netting on standard aluminium glazing bars. Plant hangers and tying eyes organise growing space inside the frame. The same clips also hold winter bubble wrap insulation, so you get year-round value. For everything else a new greenhouse needs, see our full greenhouse accessories range, and pair shading with good airflow from our greenhouse ventilation options.
Why We Chose This Range
"We tried dozens of clip designs over the years. We kept coming back to the Elite twist-lock style. They grip properly, they don't crack after a couple of seasons, and they fit nearly every aluminium frame we install. For fabric, the Vitavia Curtain Shading is the best value we have found. It is rot-proof, UV-stable and fits without help."
Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores💡 Tip: Buy more clips than you think you need. Space them every 300mm along each glazing bar. Loose netting flaps in the wind and wears through far faster.
🔧 Matt's Installation Tip: Fit Clips Once, Use Them Twice
Fit your clips in spring and leave them in the channel all year. Swap shade netting for bubble wrap in October without removing a single clip. This saves time. It also avoids cracking the glazing bars by inserting and twisting clips again and again.

Why I Recommend It: the netting clips on in minutes, cuts solar gain by up to 50%, and the 30 clips are included so you fit it the day it arrives.

Frequently asked questions
Why do I need greenhouse shading?
Shading stops the inside exceeding 30°C in direct sun. Above that, most vegetable and flower crops stop growing and leaves scorch. A 50% shade net or curtain keeps the temperature in the productive 20-27°C range. It still lets enough light through for photosynthesis.
What is the difference between shade netting and shading paint?
Netting clips on and off; paint stays until you wash it. Shade netting gives daily flexibility because you can remove it on overcast days. Paint is easier if you want zero maintenance through summer. You do lose the ability to adjust light levels until autumn.
Do these clips fit my greenhouse?
They fit all standard aluminium-framed greenhouses. Our Elite clips work with Elite, Vitavia and Halls glazing channels. The twist-and-lock design grips any standard aluminium bar. A wooden or polycarbonate-panel greenhouse may need a different fixing method.
Can I use the same clips for winter insulation?
Yes, the clips hold bubble wrap just as well as netting. Leave them in the glazing channel all year and swap the material in autumn. Our Elite Bubble Plastic kit at £79 includes 30 clips and film for a standard 6x8ft greenhouse.
How many clips do I need?
Roughly one clip every 300mm along each glazing bar. A standard 6x8ft greenhouse uses around 50-60 clips. Our packs of 10 at £22 each let you buy the exact quantity without waste.
