About Our Greenhouse Insulation
Greenhouse bubble insulation lines the inside of your frame to trap a layer of still air. That air slows heat loss through the glazing on cold nights. We have fitted bubble lining to Elite, Vitavia and Palram frames for years. A roll with fixing clips starts from £14, and most owners cut their winter heating bills once the greenhouse is lined.
The job is simple with the right clips. Elite, Vitavia and Palram each use a specific lining hook that pushes into the glazing channel, so the bubble film clips straight to the frame. Pair your insulation with a greenhouse heater to hold a frost-free minimum, and browse greenhouse accessories for staging and vents. In summer, swap the lining for items in our shading and clips range.
"We line every greenhouse from the eaves down, leaving the vents clear so they still open. A double layer at the roof apex holds the most heat. Done right, bubble insulation buys you two or three degrees on a frosty night."
— Matt W, Greenhouse Stores installer, 16 years fitting greenhouses
Matt's Tip: When to Put It Up
Fit bubble insulation in late October, before the first hard frost. Take it down in late March so the glass gets full spring light. Large-bubble film works best. The bigger air pockets trap more heat than small-bubble packing wrap.
🔧 Matt's Installation Tip: Leave the Vents Free
Never line over a roof vent or louvre. Cut the film around them so they open fully. A sealed greenhouse traps damp air, and damp plants rot. Push a lining hook into each glazing bar at 30cm spacing, then clip the bubble film to the hooks.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Does greenhouse bubble insulation really cut heating costs?
Yes, it cuts heat loss through the glazing. The trapped air slows the warmth escaping on cold nights. Most owners hold two or three extra degrees and run their heater less.
-
When should I put up greenhouse insulation?
Fit it in late October, before the first hard frost. Leave it up through winter. Take it down in late March so the glass gets full spring light.
-
Will bubble insulation block too much light?
Large-bubble film passes most winter light. Plants slow their growth in winter anyway, so the slight loss does little harm. Remove it in spring for full brightness.
-
Which clips fit my greenhouse?
Match the clip to your frame brand. Elite frames use Elite lining hooks. Vitavia frames use Vitavia screwhooks. Ask us if you are unsure of your model.
-
How do I stop condensation under the insulation?
Keep at least one vent free to open. Never line over a roof vent. Air movement carries the damp out and stops your plants from rotting.
