About Our 6x10 Greenhouses

We stock 52 products in the 6x10 greenhouse size from four manufacturers, priced from £449 to £4,041. Palram Canopia polycarbonate models start at £449 and ship in 3 to 5 days. Vitavia aluminium greenhouses with glass glazing begin at £599. The Vitavia Apollo 6200 at £709 includes its own base plinth and a low-threshold door. British-made Elite models run from £759 with integral bases and locking doors. Every Elite carries a 20-year warranty.

A 6x10 greenhouse has 6.2 square metres of growing space. That is 24% more than an 8x6 on the same 6ft width, so it fits the same gap against a fence or boundary wall. The extra 640 mm of depth is what makes the difference. You can set up a staging area near the door for seed work and still have a full 6 to 7 ft of growing length behind it.

Why We Rate the 6x10

"The 6x10 is the size I recommend to anyone who has outgrown an 8x6. The width stays at 6ft, so it still fits down the side of a house or tight against a boundary. But that extra 2ft of depth changes how you use the space. You can keep staging and a propagator by the door, then run grow bags and cordons the rest of the way back. The Venus 6200 costs £90 more than the 5000. For 24% more growing space, that is hard to argue with."

Types of 6x10 Greenhouse We Offer

Budget Polycarbonate (Palram Canopia)

The Hybrid and Harmony use polycarbonate glazing on aluminium frames. The Hybrid starts at £449 with an opaque twin-wall roof and crystal-clear sides. The Harmony from £545 uses clear polycarbonate throughout for maximum light. Both include a galvanised steel base frame and ship in 3 to 5 days. Not recommended for exposed or windy positions. 5-year warranty.

Mid-Range Aluminium (Vitavia)

The Venus 6200 at £599 is the cheapest glass 6x10 we sell. It comes with two roof vents, integral gutters, and diagonal braces that keep the frame rigid in wind. The Apollo 6200 (from £709) adds an integrated base plinth and low-threshold entry that suits wheelbarrow access. Both models have a 12-year frame warranty. Silver, green, or black frames available.

Premium Aluminium (Elite)

Made in Bolton, England. The Craftsman 6x10 starts at £759 with two roof vents and an integral base. The door locks with a key. The High Eave (from £849) adds height for tall crops. At £1,869, the Titan is the strongest 6x10 we stock: Core-Vect frame, bar capping as standard, double sliding doors, and a 10-blade louvre vent. 20-year warranty across the range. 12 colour options.

Premium Timber (Swallow)

The Kingfisher 6x10 is handmade from ThermoWood-treated Scandinavian redwood. No painting needed. Toughened glass and two Bayliss automatic roof vents come as standard. A full length of slatted staging is included too. Prices start at £3,397 with free professional installation by Swallow's own fitters. The 1,730 mm eaves are the tallest of any 6x10 model. Allow 8 to 12 weeks.

Buying Guide: How to Choose the Best 6x10 Greenhouse

💡 Tip: A 6x10 greenhouse needs a base roughly 1,930 mm x 3,210 mm (Vitavia) or 1,900 mm x 3,205 mm (Elite). That is only 640 mm longer than an 8x6 base. If your 8x6 base has room to extend, the upgrade to a 6x10 is straightforward.

🔧 Matt's Installation Tip: Building a Base for a 6x10

Use paving slabs on 50 mm of compacted sharp sand. Level to within 3 mm corner to corner. The base must be square: measure diagonally from corner to corner in both directions and check the two diagonals match to within 5 mm. An out-of-square base causes doors to jam and glass to crack under tension.

The Vitavia Venus 6200 needs an optional steel base plinth (£99) to raise the frame off the ground. The Apollo 6200 has one built in. All Elite models include their integral base as standard. Build the base before your greenhouse arrives. Read our full paving slab base guide here.

Under £550 gets you a Palram polycarbonate model with fast delivery. The Vitavia Venus 6200 at £599 is where the glass range starts, with the Apollo at £709 adding its own base plinth. The Elite Craftsman at £759 adds a 20-year warranty and two roof vents, with a locking door as standard. For exposed or coastal sites, the Elite Titan at £1,869 has bar capping and a Core-Vect frame built to handle wind. Swallow timber models start at £3,397 with free installation.

Two roof vents are standard on most 6x10 models, which is an upgrade over the single vent on smaller sizes. In a greenhouse this long, air needs to move from front to back. If your model does not include a louvre vent, budget £60 to £80 for one and fit it low on the opposite end from the door. Toughened glass costs £90 to £120 more than horticultural in this size but it is four times stronger and shatters safely if hit.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does a 6x10 greenhouse cost?

6x10 greenhouses at Greenhouse Stores cost £449 to £4,041. Palram Canopia polycarbonate models start at £449. The Vitavia Venus 6200 in horticultural glass starts at £599. Elite British-made models with integral bases run from £759. The Swallow Kingfisher in ThermoWood costs £3,397 including free professional installation. All prices include free UK mainland delivery.

  • What can I grow in a 6x10 greenhouse?

A 6x10 fits 8 to 12 cordon tomato plants comfortably. Run grow bags down one side and staging on the other. The 10ft depth also leaves room for 3 to 4 cucumbers trained vertically, 6 to 8 peppers in pots, and a separate propagation area by the door for seed trays from February onwards.

  • Is a 6x10 greenhouse worth the upgrade from an 8x6?

Yes, the 6x10 gives you 24% more space for roughly £90 extra. Both are 6ft wide, so the 6x10 fits the same gap in your garden. The extra 640 mm of depth adds a full growing zone. If you found an 8x6 too cramped for staging and grow bags at the same time, the 6x10 solves that problem.

  • What base do I need for a 6x10 greenhouse?

A flat, level base of paving slabs or concrete. The standard 6x10 footprint is 1,930 mm x 3,210 mm for Vitavia models and 1,900 mm x 3,205 mm for Elite. Use 50 mm of compacted sharp sand under the slabs. Level to within 3 mm corner to corner. Our base building guide covers the full process step by step.

  • Do I need planning permission for a 6x10 greenhouse?

No, a 6x10 greenhouse falls within permitted development. It is well under the 30 square metre outbuilding limit. Ridge heights range from 1,970 mm (Venus) to 2,420 mm (Elite Titan). The 2.5 metre limit applies within 2 metres of a boundary. The Titan at 2,420 mm is close to this limit, so check your positioning. All other models fall well within the rules.

  • Which 6x10 greenhouse is best for beginners?

The Vitavia Venus 6200 at £599 is our top pick. It has a 12-year warranty, two roof vents, a reversible sliding door, and integral gutters with a free downpipe kit. Assembly takes a weekend for two people. The Palram Canopia Hybrid at £449 is quicker to build, but polycarbonate loses clarity after 10 to 15 years.

  • How long does it take to build a 6x10 greenhouse?

Allow a full weekend for two people. The 6x10 has more mid-sections than an 8x6 but the front and rear gable ends are built the same way. Palram polycarbonate models are quicker at around 5 to 6 hours because the panels slide into channels. Do not leave a partially glazed frame overnight as wind can buckle unsupported bars.
