Swallow Greenhouses

Swallow Greenhouses represent the pinnacle of British timber craftsmanship, solving the age-old problem of wooden greenhouses: Rot. Unlike standard pressure-treated timber, Swallow uses Scandinavian ThermoWood®, which is "cooked" at 215°C to remove moisture and resin. This thermal modification kills the nutrients that fungi feed on, making the timber structurally stable and rot-resistant for decades without chemical treatment. Every model includes Free Professional Installation, so your greenhouse is erected perfectly by the same craftsmen who built it.

About Our Swallow Greenhouses

Swallow build every greenhouse in their own Yorkshire workshop. The frames use ThermoWood, a Scandinavian timber heat-treated to remove the moisture and sugars that cause rot. We have fitted these buildings for years, and the difference in stability against standard timber is clear on site. Prices in the Swallow range start from £2,575. The range runs from the compact wooden greenhouses through to the larger Eagle and Mallard models.

Every Swallow order includes free professional installation south of Glasgow. Our team delivers the pre-built panels and erects the greenhouse on your prepared base, usually in a day. Choose between styles such as the elegant Victorian greenhouses or the planted-bed dwarf wall brick greenhouses. All models carry a 12-year warranty on the timber frame.

Why We Chose This Range

"Most wooden greenhouses arrive flat-packed as hundreds of loose parts. Swallow is different. They make the panels in Yorkshire and send their own fitters to build it on your base. That removes the DIY risk and keeps the 12-year warranty valid from day one. The ThermoWood frame also stays stable through wet British winters."

💡 Tip: Order the painted finish if you want a low-maintenance frame. It stays sound for five to seven years before a refresh. The oiled finish costs less but needs re-oiling every year or two.

🔧 Matt's Installation Tip: Get the base level

Your base must be ready before the Swallow team arrives. They work to tight tolerances. We check the slab is level within 13mm across the whole footprint, measuring the diagonals with a long spirit level. A sloping base stops the panels aligning and can crack the glass. An unready base may trigger a revisit charge, so get this right first.

Swallow Kingfisher 6x8 Wooden Greenhouse

Matt's Pick: Swallow Kingfisher 6x8

Best For: a serious year-round grower with room for staging both sides

Why I Recommend It: it is the size most of our buyers wish they had bought first. The 6ft width takes a path plus benching, and the toughened glass and auto vents come as standard.

Price: from £3,154
