About our swallow kingfisher dwarf wall greenhouses

The Swallow Kingfisher Dwarf Wall Greenhouse is the best-selling 6ft wide wooden greenhouse on a dwarf wall base. Built in Rotherham by skilled carpenters, it sits on a brick or block wall typically 600mm high. The wall retains heat overnight, reduces low-level glass breakage, and gives a traditional Victorian appearance.

We stock nine sizes from the compact Swallow Kingfisher 6x4 Dwarf Wall to the expansive Swallow Kingfisher 6x20 Dwarf Wall. Prices start from £2,764. For the standard base version, see our Swallow Kingfisher Greenhouses. Browse our full Swallow Greenhouses range or explore our wider selection of Wooden Greenhouses.

Why We Chose This Range

"The Kingfisher Dwarf Wall is our most popular Swallow on a brick base, and it is easy to see why. The 6ft width suits most gardens, and the dwarf wall transforms the growing conditions. When I fit these, I always notice the difference in warmth compared to a standard base model. The brick holds afternoon heat well into the evening. This extends your growing season by three to four weeks at each end. Customers who grow tomatoes on a dwarf wall base consistently report better yields."

Matt's Installation Tip: Dwarf Wall Build Quality

The quality of your dwarf wall directly affects how well the greenhouse sits. I have seen poorly built walls cause door alignment problems that are impossible to fix after installation. Use a string line on every course and check the diagonals are equal. The wall must be within 5mm level tolerance across its full length. If you are unsure, ask your bricklayer to contact us before starting. We are happy to talk them through the requirements.

  • How much does a Swallow Kingfisher Dwarf Wall Greenhouse cost?

Prices range from £2,764 to £5,137. Every price includes the ThermoWood frame, oiled finish, and 3mm toughened safety glass. Automatic roof vent openers, staging, and free installation are also included. Pay 20% deposit and the balance after installation.

  • What is the advantage of a dwarf wall over a standard base?

The dwarf wall provides better insulation and reduces low-level breakage. Brick retains heat from the afternoon sun and releases it slowly overnight. This extends the growing season by three to four weeks at each end. The wall also protects the lowest glass panes from accidental damage by garden tools, pets, and footballs.

  • How high should the dwarf wall be?

The dwarf wall is typically 600mm high. Swallow provides exact dimensions with every order. The wall must be built to these specifications precisely. Most customers use engineering bricks or house bricks. The internal face can be left exposed or rendered depending on your preference.

  • Can I add a painted finish to the Kingfisher Dwarf Wall?

Yes, 10 factory paint colours are available. The standard finish is oiled ThermoWood. Popular paint choices include Bracken, Anthracite, Lily White, and Sage. Factory painting is sprayed before delivery for a smooth finish. Painted finishes protect against UV fading for 5-7 years.

  • How does the Kingfisher Dwarf Wall compare to the Raven Dwarf Wall?

The Kingfisher is 6ft wide; the Raven is 8ft wide with double doors. The Kingfisher suits most gardens and is more affordable. The Raven Dwarf Wall is better for those needing wider access or more growing space. Both share the same ThermoWood construction and dwarf wall benefits.
