VegTrug makes raised growing easier where a traditional vegetable plot is impractical. The original Classic VegTrug is endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society (RHS). Its V-shaped bed combines shallow planting areas with a deeper centre for root crops. Wall Hugger models offer useful soil depth while taking up less space beside a wall or fence.

Materials vary across the range. Selected wooden products use FSC 100% certified timber, as stated on each product page. Aluminium planters provide a lower-maintenance alternative, while powder-coated steel is used for arches, stands and modular beds. Protective accessories use materials including polycarbonate, polyethylene and micro-mesh.

Why choose a Classic VegTrug?

The Classic is VegTrug's original raised planter and is endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society. Its 80cm working height reduces bending and allows comfortable access from a seated position or wheelchair.

The distinctive V-shaped bed supports herbs, salads and strawberries near the sides, with deeper compost through the centre for carrots, parsnips and other root crops. A fitted liner helps retain compost while supporting drainage and root aeration.

Classic timber models use FSC 100% certified cedar wood with a water-based preservative. The 1m planter holds 210 litres of compost, while the 1.8m model holds 420 litres.

Choosing the right VegTrug

VegTrug materials and finishes

Natural and Grey Wash finishes are available on several wooden planters and growing stations. Selected products are made from FSC 100% certified wood. Always check the individual specification because construction varies between ranges.

The aluminium planters use a wood-effect finish for a warmer appearance with less routine upkeep. Modular VegTub beds, garden arches and plant stands use powder-coated metal or steel. Liners, covers and glazing materials depend on the accessory.
