About Our Irrigation Systems & Kits
Watering by hand is the chore that kills a good grow. Miss a hot weekend and your seedlings wilt before you get home. An automatic irrigation kit takes that worry away. It pairs a pump, a tank and a set of drippers to flood and drain an ebb and flow tray on its own. We stock three kits, each sized to a specific tray, from £129 to £255. Each one removes the daily watering round entirely.
Match the kit to the tray you already own. The 0.52 x 0.52m kit feeds a small tray of salad leaves or herbs. The 1.1 x 1m kit suits a medium tray of vegetables. The 2 x 1m kit drives a full bench of microgreens. Pair a kit with a grow table or a grow rack for a tidy, self-watering setup. The two 3-in-1 systems are different. They are matched to the Bonanza grow cabinets, not to a loose tray. Browse the full hydroponics and irrigation range for trays, pumps and valves.
Why We Chose This Range
"These kits are new to our shelves, so I will give you the buying logic rather than a yarn. The single decision that matters is tray size. Buy the kit that names your tray and nothing else, because the tank and dripper count are set to that exact area. The rule I would follow: automate the moment you cannot water every single day. A tray of seedlings drying out once will set you back a fortnight. If you only run a small tray on a windowsill, a watering can is fine and a kit is overkill. The 3-in-1 systems are a separate thing. They only suit the Bonanza cabinets, so do not buy one for a loose tray."
— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores💡 Tip: Fill the tank with rainwater where you can. It is softer than tap water and your salad leaves and herbs respond to it. Top the tank up before a hot spell so the pump never runs dry.
🔧 Matt's Setup Tip: Match the drippers to the kit
Match the dripper count to the kit, not the plant count. The 0.52m kit ships with 16 drippers and the 2 x 1m kit ships with 32. Space them evenly across the tray so every corner floods at the same rate. A dripper left coiled in one spot leaves a dry patch.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What does an automatic irrigation kit do?
It waters an ebb and flow tray on its own. It floods the tray from a tank using a pump, then drains it back, on a repeating cycle. This removes the daily hand-watering round. We stock three kits, one per tray size.
-
Which kit fits my tray?
Match the kit to your tray; each names the tray it fits in its title. The 0.52 x 0.52m kit feeds the small tray, the 1.1 x 1m kit the medium, and the 2 x 1m kit the large bench. Buying the wrong size means too few drippers or a tank that empties fast.
-
Does the kit really remove hand-watering?
Yes, that is the whole point. The pump runs on a timer and floods the tray while you are out. You only need to refill the tank and check the nutrient mix every few days. There is no daily watering can to carry.
-
What are the 3-in-1 grow systems for?
They are matched to the G-Tools Bonanza grow cabinets, not loose trays. The 0.35m² system suits the smaller Bonanza and the 1m² system the larger one. They will not fit a standalone ebb and flow tray, so check your cabinet first.
-
What can I grow with these kits?
Vegetables, herbs, salad leaves and microgreens all do well. They are ideal for propagation and for raising seedlings to a healthy size. Anything you would grow in a tray will thrive on a steady flood and drain cycle.
-
How big is the water tank?
Tank size scales with the tray. The small kit holds 16 litres, the medium 36 litres, and the large 62 litres. In summer heat a larger tank means fewer refills, so keep an eye on the level during a heatwave.
