About Our Orangery Greenhouses
An orangery greenhouse turns growing space into a garden room. The hipped roof and raised lantern flood the interior with light, so it feels more like an extra room than a shed. We stock 56 orangery models in stock right now, from compact hexagonal designs through to large lantern-roof structures. Prices start from £729. They suit growers who want a statement piece: citrus, olives, tender ferns and an armchair to enjoy them from.
The shape sets them apart from a plain span. A central lantern lifts the ridge, the eaves stay tall, and glazed sides reach the floor. That gives headroom for trained citrus and a bright spot to sit through winter. If you want a more traditional silhouette, see our Victorian greenhouses. For a fully tailored layout, look at our bespoke greenhouses, and for timber-framed warmth browse our wooden greenhouses.
Why We Chose This Range
"I picked these because an orangery earns its keep twice. We fitted an ACD Sophie last spring and the owner now overwinters lemons in one corner and reads in the other. The lantern roof makes the whole space feel taller and brighter than the floor size suggests."
— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores💡 Tip: Site an orangery where it catches midday sun but sits near a wall or hedge for shelter. The tall lantern can act like a sail in open, exposed gardens.
🔧 Matt's Installation Tip: Build on a level slab
The raised lantern roof needs a true, level base or the glazing bars will not line up. We always lay a concrete slab or paving base before delivery. Check the diagonals match within 5mm before the frame goes up. A few hours of base prep saves a day of fighting the roof.
Matt's Pick: ACD Sophie Black Orangery Greenhouse
Best For: a true garden-room feel with a premium glass-and-aluminium finish.
Why I Recommend It: the T-shaped layout and tall lantern give real headroom for citrus, and the black frame looks the part against any house.
Price: from £9,599

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is an orangery greenhouse?
It is a greenhouse with a hipped roof and a raised lantern. The shape gives a garden-room feel, with tall headroom and glazing down to the floor. Most owners use it to grow citrus and sit among the plants.
-
Can you grow citrus in one?
Yes, citrus thrive in an orangery greenhouse. The tall lantern roof gives lemons and oranges the height they need. Keep the frost off in winter and they fruit happily for years.
-
How much does an orangery greenhouse cost?
Prices start from £729. Compact hexagonal models sit at the lower end. Large lantern-roof structures in glass and aluminium run into several thousand pounds.
-
What base does an orangery greenhouse need?
A level concrete slab or paving base is best. The raised lantern roof relies on a true, square base to seat the glazing. We check the diagonals before any frame goes up.
-
Do you install orangery greenhouses?
We offer free installation on Swallow wooden models. Other brands ship for self-build or your own fitter. Call the team and we will talk you through the options for your chosen model.
