Why We Chose This Range
“We curating the Elite Thyme Dwarf Wall specifically for properties where a standard greenhouse would look out of place. The 12-inch glazing centres aren't just for looks; they make this frame incredibly 'stiff,' which is vital when mounting onto a rigid brick base. We chose this range because Elite includes Victorian cresting and finials as standard, alongside two louvre vents. For a 6ft wide greenhouse, it offers the most authentic 'estate cottage' feel available in the UK, backed by a solid 20-year warranty.”
, Matt, Founder of Greenhouse StoresAbout our elite thyme dwarf wall 6ft wide greenhouses
The Elite Thyme brings authentic Victorian elegance to compact growing spaces. These dwarf wall greenhouses combine traditional 12-inch glazing panes with modern aluminium engineering, giving you the classic glasshouse aesthetic without the maintenance headaches of timber.
Authority comparison: thyme vs. standard dwarf wall

Built to sit on a 762mm brick wall, the Elite Thyme offers significantly better heat retention than standard base models, you'll maintain temperatures 3-5°C warmer in winter. The dwarf wall design also provides a traditional appearance that complements period properties and formal gardens.
Matt's installation tip: the 12-inch precision rule
Because the Thyme has glazing bars every 12 inches, there is zero margin for error in your brickwork. If your wall is even 10mm out of square, the bars will not fit with the glass, leading to leaks. I always advise customers to wait until they have the Elite official base plan in their hands before laying a single brick.
Importantly, ensure your bricklayer leaves a clean opening for the low-threshold door. The Thyme features a 'dropped door' design, meaning you don't want to build brickwork across the entrance. Use a Class B blue engineering brick for the capping course to provide a perfectly flat, waterproof surface for the aluminium frame. Read our full Victorian base guide here.
At 6ft 2" wide, these greenhouses fit snugly into smaller plots without compromising growing height. You'll get a comfortable 7ft 11" ridge height and can choose from nine different lengths. Every greenhouse includes built-in gutters, a lockable sliding door, and both roof and louvre ventilation as standard.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the advantage of 12-inch glazing?
The 12-inch glazing centres provide a traditional Victorian appearance. Technically, this means there are twice as many vertical glazing bars, which significantly increases the wind-loading capacity and overall strength of the aluminium frame.
-
What height should my brick wall be?
The Elite Thyme 6ft wide model is designed to sit on a 762mm (30 inch) high dwarf wall. We provide a precision technical base plan upon purchase to ensure your masonry work is 100% accurate.
-
Are the staging and shelving built-in?
Every Thyme greenhouse includes a rear aluminium shelf as standard. You can also add matching Elite Diamond staging to the side walls during the checkout process to maximise your growing space.
-
What is a dwarf wall greenhouse and why should I choose one?
A dwarf wall greenhouse sits on a brick or block wall instead of an aluminium base. This design provides 30-40% better insulation and makes a traditional, permanent structure.
