About our power chalet log cabins
Power chalet log cabins feature the traditional peaked roofline that maximises interior headroom and gives a classic cabin appearance. Built from 44mm tongue-and-groove Scandinavian timber, these suit year-round use. Popular choices include garden rooms, home offices, gyms and workshops.
The 8x12ft chalet cabin starts from £5,629. It includes double-glazed uPVC windows, EPDM roofing, 5-point locks and a 10-year warranty. Browse the wider Power garden buildings range for pent and apex roof options, or see our 28mm chalet cabins for a budget-friendly alternative.
Why We Chose This Range
"The 44mm chalet is the one I recommend for anyone wanting to use their cabin all year. The thick walls hold heat well. The chalet roof gives you headroom to stand comfortably right to the edges. We have built several of these and they feel more like a proper room than a garden shed."

Matt's Tip
When building the chalet roof, get a third person on site for the day. The ridge beam is heavy and needs to be held level while the first pair of roof boards slot in. It is possible with two people but much safer with three.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What size is the Power 44mm chalet log cabin?
The current 44mm chalet measures 8ft wide by 12ft deep (2.4m x 3.6m). This provides enough floor space for a desk, seating area and storage. The chalet roofline gives a ridge height of approximately 2.7m.
-
Can I use a 44mm chalet cabin as a year-round office?
Yes, the 44mm walls provide good insulation for year-round use. Pair the cabin with a small electric panel heater and you can work comfortably through winter. The double-glazed windows reduce heat loss and external noise.
-
What roofing material is included?
Every Power chalet cabin comes with an EPDM rubber roof membrane. EPDM is a synthetic rubber that lasts 25 years or more without maintenance. It is the same material used on flat-roofed house extensions.
-
Do I need to treat the timber after assembly?
Yes, treat the exterior with a quality wood preservative within 4 weeks. Untreated timber will grey and can develop surface mould within months. A good treatment also activates the 10-year manufacturer warranty.
-
What base do I need for a chalet log cabin?
A concrete slab or paved area that is perfectly level to within 5mm. The base must extend at least 50mm beyond the cabin footprint on all sides for drainage. We always recommend a damp-proof membrane between the base and the first log.
