About Our Fan & Climate Controllers
A controller turns a grow space from something you babysit into something that runs itself. Instead of switching a fan on and off by hand, the controller reads temperature and adjusts the fan to hold steady conditions. We stock two units that cover the common needs: a dedicated fan speed controller and a wifi smart switch. Prices start at £132.
The ECTC-1M is the one to pair with a Prima Klima EC-blue fan. It dims the fan from 0 to 100%, sets a minimum and maximum speed, and runs automatically off its thermostat probe. The Wifi Smartbox is more general: it switches fans, heaters or lights over four channels, two timed and two continuous, from an app. Use it alongside any extractor fan and carbon filter setup.
Why We Stock These
"These two cover the question we get asked most: how do I stop fiddling with the fan all day? If you have an EC-blue fan, the ECTC is the honest answer. It speaks to the fan directly over an ethernet cable and ramps it up and down off the thermostat, so the room holds temperature on its own. The Smartbox is for everyone else, or for running a heater and a fan together. I would not buy both unless you genuinely need timed switching as well as speed control."
— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores💡 Tip: Set a sensible minimum fan speed on the ECTC, not zero. A fan that stops dead lets humidity spike between cycles. A slow trickle of air keeps the filter working and the room even.
🔧 Matt's Setup Tip: Place the probe in the canopy
Clip the ECTC thermostat probe at plant height, in the airflow, not against a wall or near the lights. That is the temperature your plants actually feel. A probe in the wrong spot makes the fan over- or under-react all day.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What does a fan controller do?
It adjusts your fan speed to hold a set temperature. The controller reads the room with a thermostat probe and ramps the fan up or down, so conditions stay steady without you switching anything by hand.
-
Which controller works with the EC-blue fans?
The ECTC-1M is built for the Prima Klima EC-blue line. It connects over an ethernet cable, dims the fan from 0 to 100%, and runs automatically off its thermostat. The EC-blue fans have the RJ45 socket it plugs into.
-
What is the Wifi Smartbox for?
It switches mains gear from a phone app. The Smartbox has four channels, two timed and two continuous, handling up to 3000W. Use it to run fans, heaters or lights on a schedule, or to switch them remotely.
-
Do I need a controller at all?
Not always, but it helps a lot. A two-speed or thermostat extractor fan manages on its own. A controller adds finer speed control and, with the Smartbox, timed switching for a fuller setup.
-
Is the Wifi Smartbox easy to set up?
Yes, it is plug and play on a 2.4 GHz wifi network. Plug it in, connect it to the app, and assign your devices to its channels. No wiring or electrician is needed for the standard plug-in version.
