Professional guidance on palram harmony greenhouses
The Palram Canopia Harmony is engineered for gardeners who prioritize maximum light penetration and a clean, traditional aesthetic. By utilizing crystal-clear polycarbonate, this range offers the visual clarity of glass with significantly higher impact resistance. To manage the high light levels during peak summer, we recommend browsing our Greenhouse Accessories for compatible shade kits. For those looking to extend the season, our Greenhouse Heaters are essential to offset the lower thermal insulation of single-wall panels. Important Note: If your garden is in a highly exposed or coastal location, we recommend you shop our Toughened Glass Greenhouses, as they offer superior wind resistance due to their increased weight.
Technical comparison: harmony vs. hybrid vs. mythos
Understanding the glazing configuration is vital for selecting the right model for your specific local microclimate:
| Model | Roof Glazing | Side Glazing | Primary Benefit |
|---|---|---|---|
| Harmony | Clear (Single-Wall) | Clear (Single-Wall) | 90% Light Transmission for seedlings. |
| Hybrid | Twin-Wall (Insulated) | Clear (Single-Wall) | Balanced light with overhead heat protection. |
| Mythos | Twin-Wall (Insulated) | Twin-Wall (Insulated) | Maximum heat retention and diffused light. |
Why We Chose This Range
“We stock the Palram Harmony for its aesthetic transparency. It is the closest you can get to the look of a traditional glass greenhouse while being completely shatterproof, a massive safety benefit for gardens with children or pets. Because it allows 90% light through the roof, we specifically recommend this model for light-hungry crops like Mediterranean peppers and early-season seedlings. While the clear roof is brilliant for winter light, we always advise adding a shading kit for the peak of July to prevent the rapid heat spikes common in all-clear structures.”
, Matt, Founder of Greenhouse StoresMatt's Installation Tip: Anchoring for 56mph Wind Loads
The Harmony is a lightweight structure, which is a benefit for assembly but a risk in a storm. It is rated for 90km/hr (56mph) winds, but only if the galvanised steel base is mechanically bolted to a solid foundation.
Never just sit this greenhouse on soil. You must bolt it to concrete or paving slabs using expansion bolts. If you are in an exposed or coastal location, I recommend applying a small bead of neutral-cure silicone into the frame channels before sliding the panels in. This 'locks' the panels and significantly reduces rattling and potential panel fly-outs during extreme UK winter gales.”
Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the difference between Palram Harmony and Hybrid?
The Harmony features clear polycarbonate panels on both the roof and the sides for maximum light. The Hybrid uses twin-wall polycarbonate for the roof (providing shade and insulation) and clear sides. Choose Harmony if you need maximum sun exposure for seedlings; choose Hybrid if you are worried about summer scorching.
-
Does the clear polycarbonate discolour or turn yellow?
No. Palram Canopia uses 100% UV-protected polycarbonate. These panels are engineered to remain clear and will not become brittle or yellow over time, backed by a 5-year manufacturer guarantee.
-
Is a base included with the Palram Harmony?
Yes, every Harmony greenhouse includes a galvanised steel perimeter base as standard. This provides the structural rigidity required to keep the aluminium frame square and stable.
-
What sizes does the Palram Harmony come in?
The Harmony spans 6x4 all the way up to 6x14, with 6x6, 6x8 and 6x10 in between. The smaller sizes suit a starter plot, while the 6x14 gives a serious growing run. You can pick a silver or green frame.
-
How much does a Palram Harmony greenhouse cost?
The 6x4 Harmony starts at £402, and bigger footprints or the green finish add to that. The clear polycarbonate gives you near-glass views with far better resistance to knocks and footballs.
