About our rattan sofa sets
Our rattan sofa sets turn patios, decking, and conservatories into outdoor living rooms. Each set features hand-woven PE rattan over powder-coated steel frames with deep-filled, shower-proof cushions. The synthetic weave is UV-stabilised and rated for permanent outdoor use in all UK weather conditions.
Choose from classic 3-piece sets (sofa plus two armchairs), L-shaped corner configurations, or modular layouts you can rearrange. For alternatives, browse our aluminium sofa sets for a modern look. Add a rattan dining set for outdoor meals. We also stock grey rattan furniture sets and rattan storage boxes for cushion storage.
Why We Chose This Range
“When choosing a rattan sofa set, check the cushion fill. We only stock sets with quick-dry foam cores. Cheap alternatives stay damp for days after rain. Our sets use 6 to 8 cm high-density foam wrapped in quick-dry polyester. That means the cushions keep their shape year after year instead of sagging by August.”
, Matt, Founder of Greenhouse StoresTypes of rattan sofa sets we offer
3-Piece sofa sets
A 2 or 3-seater sofa with two matching armchairs and a coffee table. The classic layout for medium patios. Seats 4 to 5 people comfortably. Needs roughly 3 m x 2 m of patio space. Ideal for everyday lounging and casual entertaining.
Corner sofa sets
L-shaped configurations that fit into patio corners or along two walls. Maximise seating in a compact footprint. Most corner sets seat 5 to 7 people. Deep seats and wide armrests make them the most comfortable option for long evenings outdoors.
Modular sofa sets
Individual sections that connect together in any layout. Rearrange the pieces to suit different occasions. Start with a 3-piece and add sections later. Modular sets offer the most flexibility for changing garden layouts.
Compact 2-seater sets
A small sofa or loveseat with a single armchair and side table. Designed for balconies, narrow patios, and conservatories. Needs just 2 m x 1.5 m of space. Pairs well with a rattan sun lounger for a complete relaxation area.
Quick Guide: Position your rattan sofa set on level ground. Uneven paving causes the frame to rock and the weave to wear unevenly at stress points. A 3-piece set needs 3 m x 2 m minimum. Corner sets need 2.5 m along each wall. Allow 60 cm clearance in front for legroom and walking past.
Matt's buying tip
Always check the cushion fill before buying. We only stock sets with quick-dry foam cores that drain within hours. Cheap alternatives use standard foam that stays damp for days and breeds mould. Stand cushions upright after rain so water drains off rather than pooling in the seats. If your patio is exposed, keep cushions in a rattan storage box between uses.
Rattan sofa sets need minimal care. Wipe the weave with warm soapy water every few weeks. Machine-wash removable cushion covers on a gentle cycle. The frames and weave stay outdoors permanently with no painting or oiling required. Browse our full garden furniture range for dining sets, loungers, and accessories.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Are rattan sofa sets comfortable?
Yes, deep-filled cushions and wide seats provide genuine lounging comfort. Most sets use 6 to 8 cm high-density foam that holds its shape across seasons. The rattan weave has a natural flex that supports your back. Armrests are wide enough to rest a drink on without a side table.
-
Can I leave rattan sofa cushions outside?
Cushions are shower-proof but not fully waterproof. They handle light rain and morning dew without damage. In heavy or prolonged downpours, stand them upright so water runs off. Over winter, store cushions indoors or in a rattan storage box. The rattan frames stay out all year without any issue.
-
What is the difference between rattan and aluminium sofa sets?
Rattan sofas have a woven texture and a warmer, natural look. Aluminium sofa sets are lighter, slimmer, and dry faster after rain. Both are fully weatherproof. Rattan suits traditional gardens. Aluminium suits modern or minimalist outdoor spaces.
-
How much space does a rattan sofa set need?
A standard 3-piece set needs roughly 3 m x 2 m of patio space. Corner sofa configurations are wider, typically 2.5 m along each wall. Allow 60 cm clearance in front for legroom and walking past. If space is limited, a compact 2-seater sofa with a single armchair is a good alternative.
-
How do I maintain a rattan sofa set?
Wipe the rattan weave with warm soapy water every few weeks. Use a soft brush to remove dust from the crevices. Rinse with a garden hose and let it air dry. Machine-wash removable cushion covers on a gentle cycle. Avoid bleach and abrasive cleaners. The rattan needs no painting, oiling, or seasonal treatment.
-
How long do rattan sofa sets last outdoors?
Quality PE rattan sofa sets last 8 to 12 years in UK weather. The UV-stabilised weave resists fading and cracking through frost, heat, and rain. Powder-coated steel frames stay rust-free for the life of the set. Cushion covers typically need replacing every 3 to 5 years. The frame and weave outlast multiple sets of cushions.
-
Can I use a rattan sofa set in a conservatory?
Yes, rattan sofa sets work well indoors and in conservatories. The weave does not off-gas or smell. Place felt pads under the feet to protect flooring. Conservatory use extends cushion life significantly since they avoid rain exposure. The natural woven look suits conservatory interiors better than metal garden furniture.
