About our rattan dining sets
Our rattan dining sets are purpose-built for outdoor meals in UK gardens. Each set features hand-woven PE rattan over rust-proof frames with tempered glass or polywood table tops. The synthetic weave is UV-stabilised and weatherproof. Sets stay outside year-round without covers or seasonal treatment.
Choose from compact 4-seater rounds for smaller patios to full 8-seater rectangles for larger gardens. For alternatives, browse our aluminium dining sets or rattan firepit dining sets with a built-in gas fire. Complete your outdoor space with rattan sofa sets for lounging and grey rattan furniture sets in matching tones.
Why We Chose This Range
“Rattan dining sets suit families who eat outdoors regularly. The woven finish hides scuffs from daily use better than any other material. We tested dozens of sets before selecting this range. The key differentiator is frame weight. Cheap sets use thin-gauge steel that flexes when you lean on the table. Our sets use thicker-gauge powder-coated steel or aluminium, so the table stays rock-solid even on uneven paving.”

4-Seat round dining sets
Compact round tables with four matching chairs for smaller patios and balconies. The round shape fits into tight corners and allows easy movement around the table. Most models need just 2.5 m x 2.5 m of patio space. Ideal for couples and small families.
6-Seat rectangular dining sets
Mid-size tables seating six comfortably for regular family meals. Rectangular tops provide more surface area for serving dishes. These sets need roughly 3 m x 2 m of clear patio. The most popular choice for average UK gardens.
8-Seat dining sets
Large tables for families who entertain often. Extended tops seat eight adults with room for platters and drinks. Allow 3.5 m x 2.5 m minimum for comfortable chair pull-back space. Available in oval and rectangular shapes.
Cube dining sets
Space-saving designs where chairs tuck completely under the table to form a neat cube. Halves the footprint between meals. The top doubles as a coffee table when chairs are stowed. Well suited to patios that serve multiple purposes.
Quick Guide: Measure your patio and add 80 cm around each edge for chair pull-back space. A 4-seater needs roughly 2.5 m x 2.5 m. A 6-seater needs 3 m x 2 m. An 8-seater needs 3.5 m x 2.5 m. If space is tight, a cube set halves the footprint between meals.
Matt's buying tip
Check the frame material before buying. Thin-gauge steel frames flex when you lean on the table. Our sets use thicker-gauge powder-coated steel or aluminium that stays rigid on uneven paving. Also check the glass top thickness. We stock 5 mm tempered glass minimum. Thinner glass vibrates when you put down a heavy dish and feels flimsy.
Rattan dining sets require minimal upkeep. Hose down the weave with soapy water twice a season. Store cushions in a rattan storage box over winter to extend fabric life. The frames and weave stay outdoors permanently. Browse our full garden furniture range for sofa sets, loungers, and parasols.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
What size rattan dining set do I need?
A 4-seater suits patios under 2.5 m wide. For regular entertaining, choose a 6-seater (needs roughly 3 m x 2 m). Families or frequent hosts should consider an 8-seater (needs roughly 3.5 m x 2.5 m). Allow at least 80 cm clearance around the table for pulling chairs in and out comfortably.
-
Can rattan dining sets stay outside in winter?
Yes, PE rattan frames are designed for year-round outdoor use. The synthetic weave handles frost, rain, and UV exposure without cracking or fading. Bring seat cushions indoors or store them in a rattan storage box between October and March to extend fabric life.
-
Are rattan dining sets comfortable for long meals?
Yes, most sets include deep-fill cushions and ergonomic backrests. The rattan weave has a slight flex that moulds to your sitting position. High-backed armchairs provide head and shoulder support for extended outdoor dining. Cushion thickness varies by model, typically 5 to 8 cm of high-density foam.
-
How do I clean a rattan dining set?
Use warm soapy water and a soft brush on the rattan weave. Rinse with a garden hose. For stubborn marks, a low-pressure jet wash works well. Clean the glass table top with standard glass cleaner. Wash removable cushion covers in the machine on a gentle cycle. Two or three cleans per season keeps everything looking fresh.
-
What is the difference between rattan and aluminium dining sets?
Rattan sets have a woven texture and deeper cushioned seating. Aluminium dining sets are lighter, more modern in style, and dry faster after rain. Both materials are weatherproof. Choose rattan for a natural, traditional look. Choose aluminium for a sleek contemporary feel.
-
How long do rattan dining sets last?
Quality PE rattan dining sets last 8 to 12 years outdoors. The UV-stabilised weave resists fading and cracking. Powder-coated steel frames resist rust for the life of the set. Cushion covers typically last 3 to 5 years before needing replacement. The frame and weave will outlast multiple sets of cushions.
-
Do rattan dining sets need assembly?
Most sets arrive part-assembled and take 30 to 60 minutes to complete. Chairs are usually fully assembled. Tables need leg attachment and glass top placement. No specialist tools are required. Two people make the job easier for larger 8-seat sets. Full instructions are included with every delivery.
