About our plastic garden furniture
Plastic garden furniture is the lightest, most affordable, and lowest-maintenance option for outdoor seating and dining. Modern resin and polypropylene designs have moved far beyond the basic white patio chairs of the past. Our range features UV-stabilised colours that resist fading and reinforced seat structures. Textured finishes mimic natural materials like wood and rattan.
Every piece is fully weatherproof. Leave it outdoors all year or stack chairs and fold tables flat for compact winter storage. For heavier-duty alternatives, browse our rattan sofa sets, aluminium dining sets, and parasols for shade. See our full garden furniture range for all outdoor seating options.
Why We Chose This Range
“Modern plastic furniture has come a long way. The polypropylene we stock looks like woven rattan but weighs half as much. Stack it and store it indoors over winter. It takes up almost no space. Not everyone needs a heavy rattan or aluminium set. For occasional use, holiday homes, or caravan parks, plastic furniture makes complete sense. We selected virgin polypropylene rather than recycled blends. It holds colour longer and resists cracking in cold weather.”

Stacking chairs
Lightweight chairs that stack 4 to 8 high for compact storage. Reinforced seats support 120 to 150 kg. Available in textured finishes that look like woven rattan. One person can carry two stacked chairs in each hand. The most practical option for occasional entertaining.
Dining sets
Table and chair combinations for 4 to 6 people. Folding tables reduce the footprint when not in use. UV-stabilised colours stay true for years. No cushions needed. Wipe clean and ready to use in seconds.
Bistro sets
Compact 2-seat sets for balconies, small patios, and doorsteps. Round tables with two chairs that tuck underneath. Well suited to morning coffee in a tight space. The lightest option in our range.
Loungers and recliners
Adjustable sun loungers in lightweight polypropylene. Multi-position backrests with fold-flat storage. No cushions required thanks to contoured seating. Ideal for poolside, caravan parks, and holiday homes.
Quick Guide: Plastic furniture suits occasional use, second homes, and budget-conscious buyers. For daily outdoor dining, consider upgrading to rattan dining sets or aluminium dining sets for greater comfort and longevity.
Matt's buying tip
Stack plastic chairs under cover during winter if you can. The material handles frost well. However, repeated freeze-thaw cycles on pooled water can cause hairline cracks over several years. Stacking them in a shed or garage takes 30 seconds and extends their life significantly. A quick wash with soapy water in spring removes algae and green staining.
Plastic garden furniture needs almost no maintenance. Wash with warm soapy water and a soft brush. For green algae, add a splash of white vinegar. The material is fully recyclable at household waste centres. Browse our full garden furniture range for rattan, aluminium, and parasol options.
Frequently Asked Questions
-
Is plastic garden furniture durable?
Modern polypropylene furniture lasts 5 to 10 years outdoors. UV-stabilised plastic resists sun fading and cracking. Reinforced leg joints and cross-bracing prevent the flexing common in older designs. Higher-quality resin furniture can last even longer with minimal care. Avoid dragging chairs across rough surfaces as this wears the feet.
-
Can plastic garden furniture stay outside in winter?
Yes, plastic is fully weatherproof and will not rust or rot. However, stacking chairs under cover in winter extends their lifespan. Frost does not damage the plastic directly. Water pooling in seat recesses can freeze and expand, causing hairline cracks over time. Turning chairs upside down prevents this.
-
How do I clean plastic garden furniture?
Wash with warm soapy water and a soft brush or cloth. For green algae staining, add a splash of white vinegar to the water. Avoid abrasive scourers as they scratch the surface. A garden hose rinse removes most surface dirt. For white furniture that has yellowed, a paste of bicarbonate of soda left for 10 minutes works well.
-
How much weight can plastic chairs support?
Most standard resin chairs support 120 to 150 kg. Reinforced commercial-grade models support up to 180 kg. Check the product specifications for the exact rating. Armchair models tend to have wider bases and higher weight limits than armless stacking chairs. Avoid standing on plastic furniture as it is not designed for concentrated point loads.
-
Is plastic garden furniture recyclable?
Yes, polypropylene and resin furniture is recyclable at most council centres. Most councils accept rigid plastic furniture at household waste recycling centres. Some manufacturers use partially recycled material in their production. At end of life, remove metal fixing bolts before recycling the plastic components separately.
-
How does plastic compare to rattan garden furniture?
Plastic is lighter, cheaper, and easier to store than rattan. Rattan sofa sets offer deeper cushioned comfort and a more premium look. Plastic works best for occasional use, second homes, and events. Rattan is better for everyday outdoor living where comfort matters. Both materials are weatherproof and low maintenance.
-
Does plastic garden furniture blow away in wind?
Lightweight plastic chairs can move in strong gusts. Stack chairs together when not in use to add weight. Heavier resin armchairs are more stable. On exposed patios, store chairs against a wall or fence to reduce wind exposure. Some models include holes in the base for pegging into soft ground.
