About our elite apex lean-to greenhouses
Elite Apex Lean-to Greenhouses improve unused wall space into a productive growing area. These British-made structures attach directly to your house or garden wall, creating a warm microclimate that can extend your growing season. The signature apex roof design provides 20% more headroom than flat-roofed alternatives, making it comfortable to work inside.
Why We Chose This Range
“We have specialized in the Elite Apex Lean-To since 2012 because it solves the 'Bungalow Problem'. Most lean-tos have a high ridge that blocks windows, but the Elite Apex design maintains a manageable height while providing a No-Trip low threshold. We specifically recommend the 4ft deep model for serious growers; it’s the only compact lean-to on the market with the structural weight to handle 4mm toughened glass safely against a residential wall, providing a level of safety essential for family homes.”

Find your perfect fit: size, glazing & colour
First, choose your width. The compact 4ft wide models are well suited to balconies or small patios, ideal for herbs and salad crops. The 5ft and 6ft wide options (like the 6x4) offer serious space for staging, workbenches, and growing vine crops like tomatoes or grapes.
Next, choose your glazing, toughened safety glass is our recommendation if you have children or are in an exposed area. Finally, select a colour to match your home's aesthetic, from classic silver to modern graphite.
Apex vs. pent roof: which is right?
This is a common question. The Apex roof (A-frame) provides 15-20% more internal headroom, making it ideal for comfortable working and growing tall plants. The Pent roof (a single slope) has a lower overall height, which can be better for fitting under eaves or for a more contemporary look. The Elite Apex range prioritises interior space and a traditional feel.
Matt's installation tip: the wall seal secret
The performance of an Apex Lean-To depends entirely on the integrity of the wall seal. Standard kits provide the frame, but for a professional finish, you must ensure your wall is flat. If you have uneven brickwork, do not rely on the foam tape.
I always advise applying a generous bead of neutral-cure silicone along the top wall-bar before the glass is fitted. This prevents 'wall-wash', where rainwater runs down the house wall and enters the greenhouse. Importantly, check that your wall-anchors are into the brick, never the mortar, to maintain the 20-year structural warranty. Read our full base and wall prep guide here.
Installation & base requirements
All Elite greenhouses require a firm, level base. This can be paving slabs for smaller models or a 100mm concrete pad for larger ones. These greenhouses are designed for 2-person DIY assembly, which typically takes 4-6 hours. However, if you'd prefer not to build it yourself, we offer a Professional Greenhouse Installation Service.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the advantage of an Apex roof on a lean-to?
The Apex design offers two major benefits: better aesthetics that match your home's roofline, and improved internal headroom. The peaked roof also sheds heavy snow and rain more effectively than flat-roof models, reducing stress on the wall-fixings.
-
Do I need to drill into my house wall?
Yes. To ensure the structure is wind-safe and watertight, the top and side rails must be anchored directly into the masonry. We recommend using high-quality expansion bolts for a permanent, secure fit.
-
Can I fit staging in a 2ft deep lean-to?
Yes, but you require Diamond Staging specifically designed for Elite. Standard 2ft staging will block the doors. Our narrow-profile shelves integrate directly into the frame, leaving the floor clear for pots.
-
What sizes does the Elite Apex Lean To come in?
The Apex Lean To ranges from a slim 4x2 up to 6x4, with high-eave options as well. The shallow depths suit a narrow passage or a sunny wall, while the 6x4 gives room to grow and pot. They all bolt back against a wall or fence.
-
How much does an Elite Apex Lean To cost?
Prices start at £519 for a horticultural-glazed model. Toughened glass and the high-eave frames cost a little more. It is British-made aluminium, so upkeep is just the odd wash.
