About Our LED Grow Lights
A grow light tops up daylight when the sun is weak. From October to March a UK greenhouse loses a lot of useful light. Seedlings stretch, salad leaves slow down, and tomatoes sulk. An LED bar over the bench fixes that. We stock fixtures from 150W up to 400W, covering a single shelf right up to a full 1m grow tent. Prices start at £227 for the HortiONE 420.
The choice comes down to wattage and the area you light. The 150W HortiONE 420 and the 170W G-Bars suit small benches and propagation shelves. The grow cabinet crowd want a Sanlight EVO: 200W for a 60cm footprint, up to 400W for 1m square. For low-wattage seedling bars instead, see our propagation lights. Dimmers and drivers sit in light controllers and accessories.
Why We Chose This Range
"We brought in Sanlight because the efficiency is genuinely high, over 3 µmol per joule, so you get more light for the same power bill. My advice is simple. Don't buy more wattage than your space needs. A 150W bar over one seed-tray shelf does more good than a 400W panel hung too high. Measure your growing area, match it to the coverage in the spec, and pick a dimmable model if you grow several crops at once."
— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores💡 Tip: Hang the light, then raise it as plants grow to hold the gap in the spec. Too close scorches young leaves; too far makes seedlings stretch and go leggy. A simple rope ratchet makes the daily tweak easy.
🔧 Matt's Setup Tip: Run a timer, not your memory
Seedlings want roughly 14 to 16 hours of light a day, then darkness. A cheap plug-in timer holds that steady so growth stays even. Leaving a light on around the clock wastes power and does not help the plants rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What size LED grow light do I need?
Match wattage to your growing area. A 150W bar like the HortiONE 420 covers a single seed-tray shelf. A 265W Sanlight EVO 4-100 suits most home grow tents. For a full 1m square, step up to the 400W EVO 6-150.
-
How high should I hang an LED grow light?
Follow the hang height in each light's spec. Sanlight EVO bars measure light intensity at 20cm, so start there for seedlings and raise as plants grow. Too close scorches leaves; too far makes them stretch.
-
Can I grow tomatoes and chillies under these lights?
Yes, every light here suits vegging and fruiting crops. The Sanlight EVO and HortiONE run a 3200K to 3800K spectrum that brings on tomatoes, chillies, herbs and salad leaves through dark winter months.
-
Are LED grow lights cheap to run?
LEDs are the most efficient grow light type. The Sanlight EVO range gives over 3 µmol per joule, so you get more usable light per unit of power than older lamps. A dimmer trims the cost further.
-
Do I need a dimmer or driver with these?
The G-Bars are dimmable on their own. Sanlight EVO bars take an optional magnetic or Bluetooth dimmer. Drivers and dimmers live in our light controllers and accessories section, ready to pair with your light.
-
What is the difference between these and propagation lights?
These full-power bars grow plants to harvest. Propagation lights are low-wattage Sanlight Flex bars, 9.5W to 24W, made for raising seedlings and cuttings on a shelf. Many growers run both at different stages.
