The Elite High Eave solves the two biggest complaints gardeners have with standard 6ft greenhouses: lack of headroom and limited shelf space. By raising the eaves to a generous 5ft 2", Elite has created a structure where you can stand right up to the glass without stooping. This extra height allows for a 6ft 2" high entry door (no ducking required) and, crucially, provides enough vertical wall space to fit a high-level shelf above your stagingβeffectively doubling your storage capacity. Manufactured in Bolton, UK, it features the same low-threshold access as the Craftsman but with superior air volume for better plant health.
The High Eave is brilliant for space, but remember: taller walls mean a larger "sail area" for the wind to catch.
Crucial Step: If your garden is in an open or exposed area, we strongly recommend upgrading to Bar Capping rather than using the standard wire clips. The continuous rubber capping holds the longer glass panes firmly against the frame, preventing them from rattling or popping out during winter storms.
Why We Chose This Range
βWe stock the Elite High Eave because it offers the best 'growing volume per square foot' of any 6ft greenhouse. Standard greenhouses can feel claustrophobic once full of tomato plants. The High Eave feels like a cathedral inside. The extra height creates a larger buffer of air, which helps regulate temperature in summer, preventing the sharp heat spikes that can scorch plants in smaller, lower models.β
β Matt, Founder of Greenhouse StoresHow much taller is it than the Craftsman?
The Elite High Eave is approximately 11 inches (28cm) taller than the standard Craftsman. The eaves height is 5ft 2" (compared to 4ft 3"), and the door opening is a spacious 6ft 2" high.
Does it still have the low threshold?
Yes. Despite the extra height, it retains Elite's signature Low Threshold Base. You get the same trip-free, easy access for wheelbarrows, just with a much taller door frame.
Why do I need high eaves?
High eaves allow you to grow taller vine crops (like indeterminate tomatoes or cucumbers) further to the sides of the greenhouse. It also allows you to install a high-level shelf above your staging, giving you valuable extra storage space that isn't possible in a standard low-eave model.
Can I fit automatic vents?
Absolutely. We recommend automatic openers for all greenhouses, but they are especially useful in the High Eave to vent the hot air that accumulates at the top of the taller ridge.
