About Our Empty Grow Cabinets
An empty grow cabinet is the insulated box on its own, without the fan and filter. You get a PVC/XPS sandwich shell on a rigid frame, with G-tools air inlets already fitted and a mounting flange ready for your exhaust ducting. The bench model gives 103cm of internal height; the tall models give 159cm. Prices run from £645 for the bench shell up to £1,129 for the 1m² cabinet.
This is the route for growers who already own ventilation, or who want to choose a specific fan, filter and controller. The bench model and the 0.35m² cabinet both come with three air inlets; the 1m² cabinet has six. Size your fan to the internal volume, then add a carbon filter and a grow light to suit your crop. If matching the airflow yourself feels like a step too far, a climate-controlled cabinet arrives with all three parts paired for you.
Why We Chose This Range
"We stock the empty cabinets for the growers who like to spec their own kit. If you have already got a decent fan and a carbon filter sitting in the shed, there is no sense paying for another set. Buy the shell, fit your own airflow, done. The honest caution: get the fan sizing wrong and the box either dries out or goes stale. If that worries you, the climate-controlled version takes the decision off your plate, and I would point a first-timer there instead."
— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores💡 Tip: Size the fan to the cabinet volume, not the floor area. A 1m² cabinet stands 176cm tall, so its air volume is far larger than the footprint suggests. Under-fan it and humidity climbs fast around leafy salad.
🔧 Matt's Tip: Use the inlets you are given
The bench and 0.35m² shells come with three G-tools inlets; the 1m² has six. Open them all. Blocking inlets to slow the draught only starves the fan and leaves dead spots where mould starts on lower leaves.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is an empty grow cabinet?
It is the insulated shell on its own, with no fan or filter. You get the PVC/XPS box, the frame, fitted G-tools air inlets and an exhaust flange. You add your own ventilation and light.
-
What is included with an empty cabinet?
The PVC/XPS sandwich panels, the frame, the air inlets and the exhaust mounting flange. The bench and 0.35m² models have three inlets; the 1m² has six. No fan, filter or light is supplied.
-
Do I need to add a fan and filter?
Yes, an empty cabinet needs ventilation to work. Add a fan and carbon filter from our ventilation range, sized to the internal volume. Our team can help you match them.
-
How tall is the growing space inside?
The bench model gives 103cm of internal height. The 0.35m² and 1m² cabinets both give 159cm. That leaves plenty of headroom above the pots for taller herbs and salad.
-
Should I buy empty or climate-controlled?
Buy empty if you already own a fan and filter. Choose a climate-controlled cabinet if you want the airflow matched for you. Both share the same insulated shell.
-
Can I extend the cabinet later?
Yes, the Bonanza shells take a height extension set. See cabinet extensions and spares for the kit matched to your model. It adds growing height without buying another cabinet.
