It is growing plants in water and nutrients rather than soil. Roots sit in an inert tray and are fed on a cycle. Plants grow faster, use less water, and there is no soil mess indoors.

How much does a complete setup cost?

A starter build runs about £217. That is a 520 x 520mm tray, the table to hold it and the automatic kit that waters it. Add a grow rack when you want to crop upwards. There are no installation or fitting costs.

Do I need a greenhouse to use this?

No, none of it needs a greenhouse. A garage, utility room or spare corner works fine. Add a grow cabinet or LED light if the space has little natural daylight.

What is an ebb and flow system?

It floods a tray with nutrient water, then drains it back to a tank. The cycle repeats on a timer, so roots get water and air in turn. It is the simplest hydroponic method to run.

What can I grow with it?

Salad leaves, herbs, microgreens, tomatoes and chillies all do well. Many growers use the racks for raising seedlings and cuttings before moving them outside.

How do I put a system together?

Start with a tray, a table or rack to hold it, and a tank. Add an automatic irrigation kit to handle the watering. We can talk you through matching the parts.

Hydroponics and Irrigation

Hydroponics & Irrigation

Grow fresh food indoors, all year round. Our Hydroponics & Irrigation range brings together the grow tables, racks, trays and watering kits that turn a spare corner, garage or greenhouse into a working growing space. It suits salad leaves, herbs, microgreens, tomatoes and chillies, and pairs with our grow cabinets and LED lighting.

Pick a flood-and-drain tray, stand it on a table or a multi-tier rack, then add an automatic kit so the plants water themselves. Everything here is made by G-Tools in the Netherlands from aluminium and food-safe plastics.

every thing went smoothly, from upgrading my order to delivery

The product came very well packed and the driver put it where requested on my drive. I was called a week before delivery by the office to confirm the day. Almost everything needed to construct the greenhouse was included except spanners. Wall fixings, mastic and gun were. The manual was very good but does need to be read before starting and may be a bit difficult for a non practical person to get their head around. I Would definitely recommend Greenhouse Stores and the Elite Easygrow lean-to.

Verified Customer

Excellent varied stock. Prices & inclusive items were very favourable. Delivery & erected Swallow Jay potting shed was swift , professional, polite & efficient. I am extremely satisfied with my experience with Greenhouse Stores

Verified Customer

The instructions were very good and building the greenhouse was like a giant mechano set. The one thing that threw me was the website and instructions showed the glazing for the walls in two pieces. What was delivered were single sections and it took me a while to find the revised instructions.

Verified Customer

I haven't managed to erect my greenhouse yet, but so looking forward to having it.

Verified Customer

Very pleased with the Greenhouse. The installation was ably carried out by your expert team - grateful thanks.

Verified Customer

Very helpful. Great delivery. Looks good:
we will see after I’ve built it.

Verified Customer

The greenhouse parts plus glass arrived safely packed.
We erected the greenhouse ourselves and after a couple of initial errors we got into the swing of it and are really pleased with the results.
The diagrams in the instruction manual could be clearer but we got there, though it did seem to take many hours.

Verified Customer

Unfortunatly has not been put together yet,

Verified Customer

great comminication throughout and a great product

Verified Customer

We haven’t even opened it yet - waiting for greenhouse to be erected 😂

Verified Customer

Extremely helpful, could answer all my questions and give advice. Delivery was first class, one of the best delivery companies I've dealt with if not the best.
Product is fitted and looks great.

Verified Customer

It was easy to choose the greenhouse itself and then the extras. Hassle free and it was delivered when expected. I would however advise that you may want to hire someone to put it together for you, unless you are good at following this sort of instructions. The greenhouse looks fantastic and I am very happy to have bought it. I would recommend the Greenhouse Stores.

Verified Customer

Great service, arrived when expected greenhouse excellent quality easy to assemble no items missing

Verified Customer

Great in communication. Attentive. Concrete base layer needed and link to him enabled him to do it. Lean to greenhouse efficiently assembled. Highly recommended

Brilliant service from start to finish and a slight issue with my order was resolved extremely quickly great service

About Our Hydroponics & Irrigation Range

Hydroponics means growing in water and nutrients instead of soil. It is clean, fast and easy to manage indoors. This section holds the hardware side of that: the trays plants sit in, the tables and racks that hold them, and the kits that handle the watering. Everything here is built by G-Tools in the Netherlands from aluminium and food-safe plastic, so nothing rots or rusts in a damp growing space.

A simple setup is a tray on a table with an automatic kit feeding it. Add a rack when you want to grow upwards and crop more from the same floor. The range scales from a 0.52 x 0.52m corner tray up to a 2 x 1m bench. These pair naturally with our grow cabinets and LED grow lights for a full indoor garden.

What a complete starter setup costs

The smallest self-watering build is three parts: a 520 x 520mm ebb and flow tray at £59, the aluminium table that holds it at £155, and the automatic kit that feeds it at £129. That comes to around £217 all in, and it waters itself while you are out. Most growers start there, then add a grow rack to crop upwards once they have the hang of it.

Why We Added This Range

"Growers kept asking us how to raise seedlings and salads when the greenhouse was full or the weather was against them. G-Tools was the answer. It is proper indoor growing kit, the sort schools and chefs use for microgreens, and it is built to last. Start small with a single tray and table, then add a rack or an automatic kit once you have the hang of it."

— Matt, Founder of Greenhouse Stores

🔧 Installer's Note: what we measured

In spring 2026 we ran a 0.52 x 0.52m tray on its matching table in our own trial space, fed by the automatic kit. We filled the 16-litre tank on a Monday and left it on a flood-and-drain timer. By Friday the lettuce had not missed a watering and the tank had dropped about 4 litres, roughly a litre a day in mild weather. The lesson: a small tank is fine in spring, but in a July heatwave you will refill every two to three days, so size up or check it more often.

💡 Tip: Match the tray to the table or rack before you buy. A 1100 x 630mm tray needs a 1.1 x 0.63m table, not a larger one, or it will not sit flat and drain properly.
